Thanksgiving

Everyone screams my name when I walk in.
I get a monstrous amount of hugs.
Grandma gives me an early gift.
     Fuzzy socks and jewelry.
          Of course.
Grandpa tells me I'm taking too big of bites.
He takes my spoon, scoops the appropriate amount.
And gives it back to me.
We play cards.
     Of course.
There is the last minute running to the store before it closes, for dad.
The fetching of various things from around the house, for mom.
A nightly exercise routine with Diana.
     Zumba this time.
A drive to get the kids to bed.
A walk with B and her arthritis ridden hip.
     Poor thing.

Waking up by David at seven thirty in the morning.
     Of course.
It's Thanksgiving and everyone is here.
Cooking has been going on since the day before.
There is the playing of electronics.
Games of hide n' seek.
And cards.
An art project by Auntie - making ornaments to take home.
A nap or two around the house and then it's time to eat.
Turkey.
Mashed potatoes.
Yams.
The Traditional Stuffing.
Cranberry stuffing.
Almond green beans.
Ryan's famous rolls.
And pie of various sorts.
But we save it for after the trip to the park.
      Of course.

It's talking all through the night.
It's chasing babies and playing wii.
It's letting them find sun in Plants vs. Zombies.
It's the topic of getting married.
It's helping to cook the meal with Poppy.
It's Grandparents and Great Grandparents.
It's avoiding fights and loving each other.

It's my favorite holiday.
It's Thanksgiving.
